About Meghalaya Rural Bank:
Meghalaya Rural Bank has the mandate of
the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976 to extend credit and other banking
facilities for development of the rural areas of the State of Meghalaya. The
Bank began operations under the nomenclature of Ka Bank Nongkyndong Ri Khasi
Jaintia on 29th December 1981 with the opening of its first branch in Shillong.
Since that beginning, there has been no looking back. Today the total business
of the Bank is in excess of Rs 1250 crore and its network of 67 fully
CBS-compliant branches (as on 31st December 2012) is the second largest among
all banks operating in Meghalaya - second, that is, only to State Bank of India
